Copper-binding tripeptide. Wound-healing + ECM remodeling reference standard. Endogenous copper-binding tripeptide (Gly-His-Lys) complexed with Cu(II). Researched for fibroblast-driven ECM remodeling, dermal collagen + decorin upregulation, and wound-bed angiogenic signaling.
GHK-Cu is the copper(II) complex of the endogenous tripeptide glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine. In vitro it acts as a high-affinity copper carrier with characterized activity on fibroblast proliferation, decorin and collagen-I/III synthesis, MMP-2 activation, and antioxidant gene expression. Pickart and colleagues have shown the Cu(II) complex modulates ~4,000 human genes toward a regenerative profile in cultured fibroblasts.
