Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-7) modified with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension. In vitro it modulates BDNF/NGF expression and has nootropic activity in cortical neuron cultures.
