Mechanism

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide derived from a fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH 4-7) modified with a Pro-Gly-Pro extension. In vitro it modulates BDNF/NGF expression and has nootropic activity in cortical neuron cultures.

• BDNF / NGF expression
  qPCR + ELISA assays in primary cortical neuron cultures.
  Working range: 100 nM to 10 µM
• Glutamate receptor modulation
  AMPA/NMDA receptor sensitivity assays in hippocampal slice preparations.
  Working range: 1 µM to 100 µM
